Biography: Julia Sasso

Recognized as “one of the foremost dance artists in the country", (The Dance Current) Julia Sasso has developed a language of “bold, muscular movement” with the creation of more than 50 original dance works including choreography for feature film and theatre.

Her work has been commissioned and presented by Harbourfront Centre’s World moves international dance series, the Canada Dance Festival, du Maurier World Stage, Toronto Dance Theatre and Dancemakers among others; throughout Canada, in the United States and in Europe.

A choreographer, performer, master teacher and Artistic Director of Julia Sasso dances, her work reveals an artist in full command of her talent; “one of perhaps a dozen contemporary modern dancers in Canada who is simply breathtaking in motion.” (The Ottawa Citizen)

The recipient of numerous awards and scholarships Ms Sasso is highly regarded as a teacher of contemporary dance techniques. She has taught master classes and workshops at distinguished learning centres including UCLA, Cornell University, Le Groupe Dance Lab, (Canada’s) National Ballet School; in Budapest, England, Wales, Scotland, Austria and Germany.
