Biography: Nick Kenkel
Hip Hop
Nick started his dance training while attending college at Indiana University as a Member of the IU Afro-American Dance Company. This school-sponsored dance company provided a basis for his understanding of dance as an art form. His training continued at Joel Hall Dance Center and Lou Conti Dance in Chicago. After being accepted into Alvin Ailey's Summer Intensive Program, Nick moved to New York City where he currently resides.
Nick supplemented his New York training as a scholarship student at Steps On Broadway. Nick has performed in musicals such as West Side Story, Sweet Charity, and Chicago at various reputable regional theatres in the US. He was a regular dancer in numerous sketches for Saturday Night Live appearing in over 25 episodes. He has danced in numerous award shows including the MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Music Awards, MTV Europe Awards, and the Brit Awards in London.
He has been seen as a principle dancer in commercials for American Eagle, Apple iPod, and ABC's Dance Fever. He has danced for numerous artists including Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, Jamie Foxx and Anastacia. He has choreographed for MTV promos and stage performers including Debbie Gibson and Jai Rodriguez from BRAVO's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. He serves as a creative team member and choreographer for Broadway Bares, an annual AIDS fundraising event in NYC, directed by Jerry Mitchell of Broadway's Hairspray.
