Biography: Ray Hesselink

Tap and National

Ray Hesselink is a performer, choreographer, writer, and the Artistic Director of N.O.W. DANCE, featuring new and original works for the theater by up-and-coming choreographers.

As a performer, Ray's favorite performances include originating the role of "Bud" in Batboy: The Musical and a recurring role on USA'SUp All Night with Rhonda Shear. As a dancer, Ray recently created the role of "Mr. Happy" in Derick Grant's Imagine Tap! Ray has also been featured as a principal dancer in Nayikas, a classical Indian Dance Company.

Ray choreographed and performed in Because of You: An Evening of Tap Gratitude at SWING 46 in Manhattan, featuring new and original works inspired by tap artists past and present. Ray recently dubbed the tap sounds to the Dancing Elephant in the G.E. "Singin' in the Rain" commercial. Ray is on faculty at STEPS on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center.
